Analysis Implementation of Occupational Health and Safety at Solok General Hospital in 2017

Abstract


Background
Hospital workers have a higher risk of occupational injuries and occupational diseases than workers in other workplace. The purpose of this study is to analyze the implementation of Occupational Safety and Health at Solok General Hospital in 2017 using the system approach.

Materials and methods
Design of the research is descriptive qualitative that aims to analyze problems that occur on the application of OSH in Solok General Hospital. This research was conducted in June 2017 until July 2018 with the number of research informants consisted of 16 people determined by purposive sampling technique. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, questionnaires, observations, and document review. Data analysis using content analysis method and triangulation of source and method.

Results
In the input component: Human resources, budget and OSH facilities provided are still lacking. In the process component: Risk management, safety and security of hospitals, occupational health services, hazardous and toxic material management are good. Fire prevention and control equipment is insufficient. Infrastructure management has been done well with the source of water and electricity reserves and periodic maintenance. The management of medical equipment and disaster preparedness is good. In the output component: OSH supervision performed by the hospital management and still found cases of work accidents in Solok general Hospital.

Conclusions
The implementation of OSH in Solok General Hospital has been implemented but not in accordance with Regulation of Minister of Health No.66 Year 2016. There are some shortcoming of Human Resources, OSH budget and facilities. The management OSH of Solok General Hospital advised to immediately meet any shortage of human resources, facilities, and conduct better OSH supervision
