Relationship between nutritional status and level of memory among school children of standard 3rd to 5th .

Abstract


A healthy child is sure future is the theme of WHO healthy children growth become healthy adult, who are strong both in body and mind. Nutrition is essential for our bodies to develop, replace & repair cells and tissues, produce energy to keep warm, move and work, protect against, resist and fight infection and recover from sickness.A nutritional assessment tool was done by using BMI and IAP standard to assess the nutritional status and modified working memory test batteries scale developed to assess the level of memory of school children. To assess the relationship between nutritional status and level of memory among school children of standard 3rd to 5th. From the nutritional status,normal weight is (48.11%), under weight is (31.11%) and overweight is (20%) ,where only (0%) were obese. From the level of memory  (54.81%) of children have average memory, (23.70%) of children have poor memory, where only (21.48%) of children have good memory.The mean score of nutritional status is 16.64 where the mean score of level of memory is 31.64. From this relationship there is presence of significant positive relationship between nutritional status and level of memory as the value of r is 0.15.
