Abstract


Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a disease characterized by the occurrence of hyperglycemia and carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism disorders associated with absolute or relative deficiencies of the work and / or insulin secretion. DM disease is still a major health problem in developing countries including Indonesia. Based on data Riskesdas South Kalimantan in 2013 the number of cases of DM in the District of Banjar is the highest in South Kalimantan. This study aims to analyze the influence of physical activity, obesity and smoking habits against the incidence of DM type 2 in the work area of ​​Martapura Health Center. This research is a quantitative research using case control design. The population is the entire population who seek treatment in the work area of ​​Martapura Public Health Center. The sample was 150 with 75 case samples and 75 control samples and taken by purposive sampling technique. The results showed that risk factors influencing the incidence of DM type 2 were physical activity (p = 0,009), obesity (p = 0,003) and smoking (p = 0,039). Therefore, it is advisable to health workers to convey about the importance of applying a healthy lifestyle to prevent the incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus and the community to implement healthy living behavior in the activity.
