Abstract

Non-smoking area or more commonly referred to as KTR, is an effort by the government and stakeholders in reducing the prevalence rate of smokers in Indonesia which is increasing every year. KTR policy is based on Law Number 36 Year 2009 Article 115 on health. The application of KTR in the school environment is supported by Permendikbud Number 64 Year 2015 on Non-Smoking Areas in School Areas, which has the basic purpose of protecting the young generation who are studying in schools from exposure to tobacco smoke that is harmful and indirectly expected to reduce the number of smokers on students. In fact there are still many students and educators and staff in the school environment often violate this rule, even ignore this rule, while the area where they smoke is a non-smoking area. This study was conducted to analyze the relationship between knowledge about non-smoking areas (KTR) with students' perceptions of KTR implementation in SMA N 5 Padang with the subjects of the study were all students. This research is a quantitative research of analytic survey with cross sectional study design approach. The sample that became the subject of this research is 143 respondents. Data collection is done through interview. The result of the research stated that the hypothesis was answered by the relation between the perception of the students on the application of non smoking area with the students 'smoking status (pvalue = 0.001), with the students' knowledge about the non-smoking area (pvalue = 0.001). Meanwhile, between the perception of the students on the application of non-smoking area with parent income no relationship (pvalue = 1,000), parental smoking status no relationship (pvalue = 0.617), family members smoking no relationship (pvalue = 1,000), danger of smoking no relationship, (pvalue = 0.365). There is no major variable interaction with confounding variables.
