Consultation given by midwife to pregnant women may increase anemic pregnant women commitment following anemia treatment. The objective of present study is to evaluate the effect of consultation on anemic pregnant women commitment following anemia treatment .
Method
The design type of study is before and after with control. Sample size was 95 anemic pregnant women visiting the health center as intervention group (consultation) and 95 anemic pregnant women visiting another health center as control group (no consultation). Collection of data for dependent variable namely anemic pregnant women comitment following anemia treatment, and for 8 other independent variables. The objective of bivariate analysis is 1) to detect significant different category proportion of each independent variable between intervention group and control group, and 2) to detect association between consultation and anemic pregnant women commitment following anemia treatment.
Result
There is no significant difference of category proportion of each independent variable between intervention group and control group. So, multivariate analysis is not necessary conducted. There was significant association between consultation and commitment of anemic pregnant women following anemia treatment, which was higher after intervention (June 2018) compared to before intervention (April 2018). The commitment was also higher in intervention group compared to control group after the intervention (June 2018).
Conclusion
The consultation increases the commitment of pregnant women following anemia treatment. However, this research result limited only for the sample studied. Therefore, further study should be conducted by using representative sample from subdistrict or district.
