Correlation of Nurse Attitude and Involvement in Occupational Health and Safety (OSH) With the Occurrence of Work Accidents at Private Hospital X in Kulon Progo Yogyakarta

Abstract


Background

Health services provided by hospitals in an effort to cure various types of diseases. In the form of outpatient services, inpatient and emergency services. Potential hazards that arise in these services in addition to causing the occurrence of transmission or the onset of the disease as well as accidents. In his work activities, health workers in the hospital have the potential to experience Slip, Trip, Fall and result in serious injury to missing work days, reduced productivity, treatment claims and reduced ability to care for patients. Nurses as laborers who interact directly with patients also have the potential to be injured by needles and the spread of disease due to potential biological hazards such as bacteria, viruses.

Materials and methods

The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between the attitudes and involvement of nurses in Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) with the occurrence of work accidents at a private hospital X Kulon Progo Yogyakarta. This study uses analytical methods.

Results

The results showed that there was not significant correlation between nurses 'attitudes in occupational safety and health (OSH) and the occurrence of occupational accidents (p value = 0.525 ˃ 0.05), there was not significant correlation between nurses' involvement in occupational safety and health with work accidents (p value = 0.1 ˃ 0.05).

Based on this, it can be concluded that there is not significant correlation between attitudes and involvement of nurses in the field of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) with the occurrence of work accidents in a private Hospital X  in Kulon Progo Yogyakarta.
